Northwest, Central, Southwest, and East Central Library
Service Areas have formed a consortium to make the cost of downloadable
audiobooks and eBooks affordable to member libraries. The consortium name is
WILBOR (West/Central Iowa Libraries Building Online Resources). This
service is provided through OverDrive, a national vendor of digital content.
The
WILBOR audiobook service has been live since June 1, 2008 with a collection (as
of February 2, 2011) of approximately 3,460 audio titles. The WILBOR eBook
service has been live since December 1, 2010 with a current collection of
approximately 1,540 eBook titles.
Staff at all four LSAs manage the project in partnership with OverDrive. Central Iowa Library Service Area (CILSA) serves as the financial agent for the WILBOR Consortium.
Next enrollment period: Spring 2011
March 31, 2011: Deadline for receipt of the two signed Letters of Agreement, plus the eBook Addendum, at the CILSA office.
May 31, 2011: Service goes live for new participants.
June 30, 2011: Deadline for receipt of first payment (sent to CILSA office)
