The venue for ISLOC is entirely online. Adobe Connect Pro classroom is an online classroom environment, available to us through the State Library of Iowa. The Adobe Connect rooms are easy to use but if you have not participated in a class or meeting in one of the rooms before we suggest that you log into the classroom a few minutes early on the day of the conference. The link to the login page will be included in the e-mail confirming your registration and in the e-mail reminder you will receive before the conference. In addition we will be offering several "orientation" sessions in the classroom so you can visit on an informal basis and get familiar with the environment (and maybe get some tips!) before you attend the conference. The orientations are scheduled for: December 9, 2009 10:00 a.m. (SE) A little more about the classroom: It is best if your computer is "hard-wired" to an Internet connection, rather than via wireless. The classroom makes use of VoIP (Voice over IP) so the audio is all done via the computer. You will want to have speakers (or headphones) on your computer. If you wish to speak you will want a microphone, but the microphone is not necessary. (You can also type in questions, etc., as text.) If you use a microphone please also use a headset or earphones so your microphone won't pick up the sound from your speakers and broadcast it back to everyone in the classroom. You will need to have your microphone plugged in BEFORE you enter the classroom.
