REFERENCE CONTRACT

This agreement between the Central Iowa Library Service Area (CILSA) and the Southwest Iowa Library Service Area (SWILSA) is effective from July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003. The agreement is contingent upon approval of the Iowa Regional Library System Plan of Service by the Department of Education. This agreement may be terminated by either party with 60 days notice.

Reference questions from libraries in SWILSA will be sent to the SWILSA office. Subject requests will be filled by SWILSA staff. Reference questions and subject requests not answered by SWILSA staff will be faxed to the CILSA reference service in Ames.

CILSA staff will answer reference questions using the resources of the Ames Public Library, Iowa State University Library, contacting other agencies or individuals, or using online resources. Answers will be sent to the local library requesting the information by email, fax, mail, or over the telephone depending upon which method the reference librarian feels is most appropriate.

SWILSA will pay CILSA $1,200 for this service.

Southwest can either pay $100 per month with $200 being paid in May for the last two months of the fiscal year or $300 in September, December, March, and May of FY2003. No invoices will be sent.
