Shawna Hawkins will show you how easy it is to get started with a website using Microsoft's Front Page software. (Front Page will be included on your computers from the Gates Foundation--here's your chance to see how it can work for you!)

Information Literacy

State Library Mary Wegner will discuss information literacy: what it is, what YOU can do to promote it, and what's happening around the state.

Blog It! Library Weblogs to Tell the Library Story

Karen Burns introduces weblogs--if you're not quite ready to do a website, so just want to add a great feature to your current website. You'll have a chance to create a blog during the session.

Presenting: The Library! Power Point Presentations

You've seen them, your children and grandchildren are doing them--now you can, too! Ann Coulter will show you how easy it is to create visual presentations with Power Point software.

 Seek and Ye Shall Find: Effective Internet Searching

Carole Stanger will lead you through searching the Internet effectively, including tips to get better results from your searches.

Short on time? Jill Pannkuk will show you how off-the-shelf software, such as word processing and spreadsheet, can help you be more efficient and effective in managing your library.

Telling the Library's Story with Numbers: WebConnect and Your Annual Report

Looking for a more dynamic, effective way to present your statistics to the board, council, supervisors, and others? Wishing you could see what other libraries are doing? Carole Stanger will show you how WebConnect can easily do charts, graphs, and tables to tell the library's story--it's like magic. (And it's fun!)

First Search and EBSCO

These terrific online resources are underused! Carrie Falk will show what these are all about, give tips on searching effectively, and give you some hands-on searching time. If you haven't used First Search and/or EBSCO, or don't feel very comfortable with them, don't miss this session.

Tales from the Trenches: Automating the Library

A panel of librarians who have been through automation (or changing automation systems) will share their experiences--what worked well, what didn't work well, what they'd do differently next time. If you're thinking about automating, this is a must session.

Teaching Computers and the Internet to the Public

Now you have the computers and the connection to the Internet, and you know you should be teaching the public how to take best advantage of those resources. Sarah Willeford has been teaching classes at the Clarinda Public Library, and will share her experience, tips, outlines and handouts!

Using Technology for Presentations
